It's time to bust out those navy shirts and tan khakis because the Blockbuster trailer just hit the shelf.
Long before the red envelopes came along, there were blue DVD cases. Some might consider the latter an ancient artifact, but not Timmy Yoon (Randall Park). As he says in the teaser for the upcoming comedy series, "I've been working here since the seventh grade." He's an analog dreamer living in a 5G world, operating the very last Blockbuster store in America. It's an accomplishment being the last man standing, but it sure doesn't feel like a feat for the DVD enthusiast.
The trailer introduces us to Timmys lively bunch of employees, including his longtime crush Eliza (Melissa Fumero), maternal figure Connie (Olga Merediz), aspiring filmmaker Carlos (Tyler Alvarez), girl-next-door Hannah (Madeleine Arthur), too-cool-for-school teen Kayla (Kamaia Fairburn) and store owner Percy (J.B. Smoove). They might all come from different walks of life, but they all bring a lot of heart to keep the little engine chugging.
Blockbuster is created by Vanessa Ramos, who previously co-produced Superstore and wrote for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The writers are David Caspe (Happy Endings, Black Monday) and Jackie Clarke (Superstore, Happy Endings).
Take your pick of candy and refreshments because Blockbuster checks out on Nov. 3.
