To celebrate the 77th anniversary of Malaysia's Road Transport Department (JPJ), the FF series license plates were introduced.
Initially, the bidding period on the JPJ eBid platform was scheduled to conclude at 10 PM on 18th May. However, technical difficulties with the electronic bidding system prompted an extension of the deadline by 24 hours, giving bidders until 10 PM on 19th May to participate.
The bidding activity has attracted significant attention from netizens, particularly those interested in securing license plates with unique and special numbers. Notably, the bid for the FF9 license plate has soared to an astonishing RM 909,999, secured by a young business woman named Miss Ivon Wong. That little incident has apparently made her a celebrity overnight. In the end however, the registration number FF9 has been successfully auctioned off at a final bid of RM911,999, surpassing her bid.
According to a Facebook post made by Anthony Loke, the Minister of Transport, the bidding for the FF series license plate numbers has achieved a remarkable feat by generating the highest collection ever recorded in the history of JPJ's registration numbers, amounting to an impressive sum of RM34,296,327.
An impressive number of 34,032 individuals enthusiastically took part in the bidding process through the JPJeBid platform, and a total of 8,348 successful bidders emerged victorious, securing their desired registration numbers.
Anthony Loke also reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing digital services, aiming to provide the best possible experience for the people.
