The police are currently in pursuit of individuals suspected of being involved in the abuse of a stray cat, an incident that was reported in this district last Thursday. The Acting Chief of the Kota Setar District Police, Superintendent Syed Basri Syed Ali, stated that they received a report from a member of the public regarding the incident at 10:56 am on Friday.

The incident was reported to have occurred around 11:30 pm when bystanders witnessed a stray cat in distress, its mouth bloodied, believed to be the result of an assault by an unknown person. "On Saturday, we also identified a video uploaded on Twitter by Neoticc/Emil, depicting the incident of abuse," he stated in a release on Sunday. He added that following this discovery, an investigation was initiated under Section 29 (1) (a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which carries a penalty of not less than RM20,000 and not more than RM100,000 or imprisonment for up to three years or both. "The police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Khairolamin Khalid at 019-258 5884."
