In a recent operation, five police officers and one civilian were apprehended while processing ketum drink at a residence in Alor Gajah. The Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Zainol Samah, revealed that the detained individuals, consisting of two senior police officers and three lower-ranking officers, along with a civilian aged between 31 and 55, were taken into custody by a team from the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) of Bukit Aman around 11:30 last night.
During the operation, the enforcement team confiscated 5.2 liters of ketum water stored in bottles and wrapped in plastic. Additionally, they seized a pair of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) operational uniforms and a broom.
All the detained police officers are currently stationed at the Melaka Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) main office, as per reports by Sinar Harian.
In a statement on Tuesday, The Chief of Police of Melaka, Datuk Zainol Samah confirmed that a remand application for all individuals would be submitted today to facilitate further investigations under Section 30(2) of the Poison Act 1952.
