What do we want? We want to be our own boss! When do we want it? Now!

Working under someone else isn’t always a walk in the park. You are forced to obey them, your ideas and opinions often get thrown away and you don’t really have that much or should I say any freedom at all. 

While these working conditions were considered normal and something everyone has to go through previously, the new generation, the Gen-Z decided, no we don’t want to work under somebody else. And because of their influence, working under somebody else is out and being your own boss is trending. 

The fun about being you own boss is that you get to choose when you want to work, you get to be as creative as you want, and you get to grow as an individual. It is empowering and powerful to be your own boss, so you should start considering doing it too! 

Here are some of the jobs that allow you to be your own boss:

1. Interior Design

If you have and eye for interior design, then maybe you can take some courses online and get a good certificate. Then you will have to spend a little on some advertising and voila you are not your own boss!

2. Catering

People who love cooking and are actually good at it can start their own catering business, maybe start small by advertising around your neighbourhood. Then, when you have enough fund, you can start catering bigger events in further locations. 

3. Event Planning

Most even planners have a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Public Relation or Event Managements. It is also good to have good connections with caterers, decorators and more and you will be needing them when planning an event. 

4. Personal Trainer

As more and more people are looking for ways to live a healthy life but do not possess the motivation or in-depth knowledge about it, they start seeking for personal trainers to be their guides. If you are into fitness, then you might as well get yourself a personal trainer license and start being your own boss.

5. Accounting and Tax Preparations

Got a bachelor’s degree in accounting or any related field? Then how about working as a freelance accountant. Most small companies hire freelancers to sort out their accounts for them so it will be a good way for you to start your journey into being your own boss. 

6. Real estate agent

People are always looking to buy property, especially houses and especially in Malaysia. So, if you feel like you would do well as a real estate agent then make sure you go for the proper training and also get your license before you start selling houses! 

7. Makeup Artist

If you love makeup, then there’s no harm in earning some extra income doing it for others. To make your services more trustable and legit, you can always go for some training and get some certificates. Besides that, advertising by posting the makeup looks you’ve done on social media could get you more clients.
