A bizarre incident unfolded at a mosque in Section 9 of Bandar Baru Bangi when an unemployed man disguised as a woman wearing a telekung attempted to "fish" money from a donation box. However, his ill-intentioned endeavor was thwarted as he failed to escape with the mosque funds. The incident, which occurred on May 18th, came to light when a concerned citizen alerted the authorities about the suspicious activity outside the mosque compound at 3:34 PM on May 19th.
The Foiled Attempt:
According to Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan, the District Police Chief of Kajang, the incident took place around 3 AM on May 18th. The complainant became aware of the situation after receiving a call from one of the security guards on duty. Upon reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the suspect was identified as a male wearing a blue telekung, black pants, and a face covering.
The suspect was observed attempting to "fish" money from the donation box located outside the mosque's corridor. Fortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful, and the security guard's pursuit of him proved futile as the man managed to escape.

Arrest and Investigation:
Taking swift action based on the available information, a team of officers from the Bandar Baru Bangi Police Station apprehended a 23-year-old unemployed male at midnight in Flat Kajang Mewah. Guided by the suspect himself, the police seized a long-sleeved T-shirt, the blue telekung, and a Yamaha LC 135 motorcycle that were allegedly used during the incident.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid expressed confidence that the suspect's arrest could potentially solve several cases of theft involving money and mobile phones within mosques and suraus in the vicinity of Bandar Baru Bangi.

The case is being investigated under Section 380/511 of the Penal Code. Members of the public who possess any information related to this incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Muhammad Fadeli Safii, at 012-5373134 to aid in the investigation.
