A peculiar scene from a village road in Beaufort, Sabah, has gone viral on TikTok, leaving many Malaysians both amused and spooked. The video, uploaded by user Faorinzha (@faorinzharyan), captured a rather unexpected road safety marker while she was believed to be out visiting homes during Hari Raya in Kampung Mempagar.

In the clip, Faorinzha can be seen driving along a winding village road. As her car approaches a bend, a standard safety cone appears in frame,  but just a few meters ahead, something truly surprising comes into view: a tombstone, planted firmly along the white line on the side of the road.

Faorinzha speculated that the tombstone might have been placed there due to a shortage of traffic cones. However, many believe it serves a deeper purpose,  a stark warning to drivers to slow down, especially around dangerous bends.

"When cones aren't enough, a tombstone will do. Drive cautiously and with care," she wrote in the caption, clearly shocked by the unusual roadside sight.

Since being posted, the video has garnered over 1 million views, with netizens flocking to the comments section to share their thoughts on the bizarre and slightly eerie warning method.

"Reduce speed, tombstone ahead," one user joked, poking fun at the unusual approach to traffic safety.

Others who had driven through the same area chimed in with their own reactions. "We just passed by there earlier. My whole family was stunned. That really made us reflect," said one TikTok user.

While the use of a tombstone might seem extreme, many commenters interpreted it as a symbolic reminder of the potential consequences of reckless driving.
