A total of 556 scams involving the sale of face masks have been recorded so far as scammers took advantage of the shortage of face masks in our country, and most cases happened during the Movement Control Order (MCO). This has resulted in a total of RM 4.2mil losses.
According to The Star, the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Zakaria Ahmad said,
“Some syndicates even gave fake tracking numbers to fool the buyers into thinking that the package was being sent to them.”
