In a shocking Facebook post, a Malaysian man recently shared his painful story of helping his girlfriend with home renovations, only to find out that she was cheating on him after the work was done. To add insult to injury, she even blocked him when he tried to ask for the renovation funds back.
According to the man's post, he revealed that when he first met his girlfriend, she had purchased an apartment. At the time, she was tight on funds but eager to renovate her place. Believing they would eventually get married, he decided to financially support her renovation endeavours. "I spent over RM70,000, and little did I know that after the renovations were done, my girlfriend would cheat on me," he shared.
The man went on to explain that his girlfriend had fallen for a colleague, and despite his efforts to salvage the relationship, she chose to let go. Even his brother advised him to reclaim the renovation money from her. "I know I probably won't get it back. I've heard similar stories. How many people actually manage to recover the money?" he pondered.
Despite the slim chances of recouping his money, the man attempted to reach out to her, hoping to at least retrieve half of the funds. However, she promptly blocked him. "Her new lover even messaged me on Instagram, mocking me for being foolish with money. Who can still believe in love after this?" he lamented.
Comments on the post reflect a mix of sympathy and relatability:
"You don't need to curse us with a breakup. I curse your ex first."
"Whether male or female, if you're not married, there's always some reservation when spending for each other."
"How many guys would be willing to go to this extent? Clearly, he really liked that girl."
This unfortunate tale serves as a reminder that trust and love can sometimes take unexpected turns, leaving individuals with both emotional and financial scars.
