The oldest tropical rain forest in the world (estimated to be more than 130 million years old; older than the Amazon rainforest) is located in the Taman Negara at the junction of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. It covers an area of 4343 square kilometres. In addition, the biological ecology in the Taman Negara is quite rich, as there are many rare animals like Malayan tigers, Malayan gaur, Asian elephants, and peacock pheasants in the national park.
Taman Negara also has the longest canopy walkway in the world. Its total length is 530 meters and it is about 45 meters from the ground. This bridge is tied to the tallest Tualang tree in the rainforest with just thick ropes (without any iron or screws at all).
