Penang Police have ordered the transfer of two of its officers detained by the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP) over suspicions of engaging in extramarital sex (khalwat). The major and corporal-ranked officers are also under disciplinary scrutiny by the Integrity and Compliance Standards Department (JIPS) at the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).
Media reports yesterday outlined the arrest of the two civil servants, both aged 37, by JHEAIPP during a 1:30 am raid at a Tanjung Tokong hotel. The operation was initiated based on a complaint from the woman's husband, suspecting the couple of engaging in a compromising situation. It is reported that the husband has been suffering from a minor stroke.
