A man has been apprehended in connection with a tragic incident involving a four-year-old girl who lost her life when she drowned in a Bangi apartment complex's swimming pool on September 13th.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan, the Chief of Kajang District Police, has disclosed that the 26-year-old suspect, who happens to be the victim's stepbrother, was taken into custody on Sunday. The arrest followed a meticulous investigation that relied on access to the CCTV footage captured at the location, which went viral.
The investigation, informed by the CCTV recordings, uncovered the suspect's presence at the scene during the incident. Alarmingly, the footage depicted the suspect engrossed in an unrelated activity while failing to intervene as the victim struggled in the water. Specifically, he was seen sitting by the side of the pool, leisurely enjoying a drink, as the lifeless child's body floated right in front of him. People online wondered if he deliberately chose not to try to save the child, while others thought he might not have even realized the tragic situation unfolding before him.
What Happened During The Incident:
The incident occurred around 3:00 PM when the young victim tragically drowned while bathing in the apartment complex. Following the incident, she was promptly transported to a nearby clinic and subsequently to Serdang Hospital for advanced medical attention.
Regrettably, despite efforts to save her, the victim's life could not be spared, and she was officially pronounced deceased around 1:00 PM on September 14th. Initially classified as a sudden death, the circumstances surrounding this tragedy have raised numerous questions.

Stepbrother Arrested:
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the 26-year-old suspect, identified as the victim's stepbrother, was taken into custody by a dedicated team of police officers from the D7 Branch of the Kajang District Police Headquarters.
