Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is extending a generous offer to residents by providing special rates on compound arrears related to traffic and general offenses. This discount period, running from August 1 to September 30, is part of the celebrations for Merdeka and Malaysia Day.
According to TheStar, DBKL emphasized that this initiative aims to ease the financial burden on citizens while encouraging the timely settlement of fines. The special rates apply to a variety of offenses, offering significant savings to those who take advantage of the offer during this period.
For traffic offenses, including parking violations and other minor infractions, the rates are as follows:
RM10 for motorcycles
RM20 for cars, MPVs, and small lorries
RM50 for buses and lorries
For general offenses, such as hawking without a license or other regulatory breaches not involving foreign nationals, a flat rate of RM100 will be charged.
However, it is important to note that the special rates do not apply to certain serious offenses, including:
Offences that have been blacklisted
Violations under the Transportation of Material (WPKL) 1997 and Wholesale Market (WPKL) 2002 by-laws
Employing foreign nationals without valid work permits under the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries (WPKL) 2016 by-law
