Imagine how many groceries you can buy with RM6,000? But not for this family.
A family of six in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, was collectively compounded RM6,000 for going to the supermarket together.
The chief of Sabak Bernam district police, Superintendent Agus Salim Mod Alias, said that the family members, aged between 19 and 48, were detained at 12.45 pm, on April 11, for breaching the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“Among the offenses committed was going against the order of an enforcement official, entering a supermarket as a group, (and) not practicing social distancing.
“All the individuals were compounded according to Regulation 11 of the Regulations and Control of Infectious Diseases 2020," he said.
Agus Said added that the individuals were given a two-week period to pay up their fines, starting from the date of the compound.
The Superintendent urged the public to obey the MCO and that the police will not hesitate to take strict action against those who do not.
