21-Year-Old Youth In Johor Receives 14-Day Jail Sentence For Stealing Coins From A Neighbour

In a recent court hearing at the Magistrate's Court, a 22-year-old unemployed man found himself facing a prison sentence after pleading guilty to the theft of coins from another man's possession just last week.


Amir Nurhakim Abd Khalid has been sentenced to a 14-day imprisonment term, with the charges against Amir Nurhakim revolved around his dishonest possession of stolen property, specifically a red-colored cut bottle containing numerous coins that belonged to a 30-year-old man. The alleged offense took place at a residential quarter in Pagoh, where the incident occurred at 11:45 AM on October 2nd.


The charge brought against Amir Nurhakim was made under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which stipulates a potential penalty of imprisonment for up to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The case's background reveals that on September 16th, at 11 AM, the complainant left his securely locked home in NSC Quarters KKS Pagoh, Bukit Pasir. However, the situation took a distressing turn when, at 11:30 AM on September 17th the complainant returned to find the kitchen door of his residence left opened. A subsequent examination of the premises revealed the unsettling discovery that several items had gone missing, including a red-colored laptop and a tube containing RM500 in cash.


Suspicion immediately fell on a potential break-in, prompting the complainant to file an official police report at the Bukit Pasir Police Station.

The situation took a significant turn on October 2nd when the accused, Amir Nurhakim, was apprehended by the police at 11:45 AM within the same quarters where the alleged theft had occurred. During the arrest, the authorities seized the aforementioned tube containing the coins.
