Many individuals choose custom-made cakes to surprise their loved ones, and bakers often strive to fulfil their customers' requests. Recently, a 34-year-old Malaysian baker, Syaza Liyana, with 11 years of baking experience, shared a cake she made, asking netizens if the cake's price was too low. However, this post unexpectedly attracted criticism for being deemed "vulgar" by some.
Syaza sometimes receives orders for cakes with unusual designs. One male customer initially felt hesitant discussing the cake's design, but eventually, through WhatsApp, expressed his wish for a "boob" cake. She was taken aback by the request, but the customer later changed his mind and requested a "booty" cake instead.
When the customer received the finished product, he was absolutely pleased with it.
Several netizens, especially those in the baking industry, pointed out that, being a local baker, Syaza should not have accepted such a "lewd cake" order. The point of her sharing a photo of the cake on a Facebook group was to seek opinions in terms of pricing.
She wrote, "How much should a fondant cake like this cost? I made a mistake with the price... I don't know how I quoted RM200. It's a big cake, and the customer got a good deal."
But some people, especially those in the baking industry, pointed out that, being a local baker, Syaza should not have accepted such a "lewd cake" order.
"Do not normalize or support requests for such 'lewd cakes," one comment read.
Some also expressed that food made in "indecent" shapes, no matter how beautiful, is not appropriate. They advised Syaza to consider this a lesson and to avoid accepting orders for such vulgar designs in the future.
Despite the criticism, some netizens found the cake to look good and reasonably priced, believing that the customer would certainly return for more.
