KUALA TERENGGANU: Not liking wife’s obsession with TikTok, husband threatens to divorce her.
The state's Chief Registrar of Marriages, Divorces and Referrals, Moktar Salleh, said the divorce involving the couple in their 30s, however, was successfully avoided through the conditions submitted by the husband.
He said the man agreed to give his wife time to change before the case was referred to the syariah court.
"The man was jealous when many people started liking his wife's viral Tiktok video.
"Despite being told to stop making TikToks, his wife refused. So, the man threatened to divorce her if she continued to use the application," he said when met by reporters here today.
Moktar said, divorce cases with trivial and unreasonable reasons are common in society nowadays,
In this regard, he said, any couple should be tolerant and extra patient, in addition to not using the word talaq (Islamic word for divorce) at will if facing problems with their partner.
"I ask every couple to emulate Rasulullah SAW and adhere to Islamic law to maintain marital harmony," he said.
A total of 1,617 divorce cases were recorded in Terengganu last year while the previous year was 2,691 cases.
