Known on TikTok as Uncle Baju Kuning, this Chinese elder from Pulau Pinang has gone viral on the platform after a Malay Nasi Lemak seller, better known as Cik Sue on TikTok started documenting her wholesome encounters with him.
Uncle Baju Kuning has been a regular customer at her little kiosk, and despite Cik Sues steadfast refusal to accept payment, he would constantly insist on paying. Uncle Baju Kuning was recently seen walking instead of riding his bike. When questioned, the uncle admitted that his old bike was beyond saving. Despite the fact that it was no longer functional, he was still seen carrying it around.
With the help of donations from Cik Sues TikTok viewers, a new bicycle was purchased to ease Uncle's daily commute. Cik Sue uploaded a video documenting her little surprise for the uncle, in which the uncle was too stunned to speak. In the past, the uncle had refused her offer of giving him a new bicycle several times. Still in shock, the uncle offered to pay her back, in which she refused. She explained to him that it was a gift from her and her TikTok followers who have grown fond of the uncle.
We can certainly learn a thing or two from this display of kindness shown by Cik Sue and her TikTok followers. No matter who we are or what language we speak, kindness is indeed universal.
