Roti canai, a beloved breakfast staple in our country, has achieved international acclaim as the best bread in the world.
This recognition was bestowed by TasteAtlas, which unveiled its list of the "Top 50 Best Breads in the World" on September 10th. TasteAtlas serves as an immersive culinary guide specializing in traditional foods, consolidating genuine recipes, food critic evaluations, and research pieces pertaining to well-loved ingredients and dishes all round the globe.
Roti canai, a flatbread pan-fried to perfection and widely adored in Malaysia, is skillfully crafted from a blend of flour, water, and eggs. The dough undergoes meticulous folding, resulting in a soft, pillowy interior and a delectably crispy outer layer, of which the taste is, without competition, one of the best breads as confirmed by TasteAtlas.
Earning the second spot is Pan de Bono, a Colombian cheese bread prepared with masarepa, yuca flour, cheese, and eggs. This gluten-free delicacy, with its tender shell and cheese-infused crumb, is often relished during breakfast or as a snack.
Securing third place is the delectable Butter Garlic Naan hailing from India. Crafted from wheat flour, clarified butter, and garlic, this flatbread demands expert kneading and grilling on a flat skillet, bestowing it with a delightful crispiness.
Nan-e barbari, a cherished Iranian flatbread made from wheat, clinched fourth place, while Ecuadorian cassava bread, known as pan de yuca, also proudly represented Colombia. Also featured are other iconic favorites such as France's baguette, India's paratha, and northern China's mantou.
