Through its signature corporate social responsibility initiative - Top Ten Charity campaign, Carlsberg Malaysia has pledged a RM1.5 million in donations to help out Chinese primary schools in Malaysia.
They are donating handheld thermometers and sponsoring full disinfection services at high-risk places, such as classrooms, libraries, canteens, laboratories, washrooms and handrails, when school resume on 15th April to beneficiary schools.
Headmasters of Chinese primary schools are encouraged to apply to be one of the beneficiaries of the initiative by submitting applications to the respective state presidents of the National Union of Heads of Schools Malaysia. One must submit the the application before the MCO is lifted on April 15. Schools within areas that are designated as Covid-19 red zones by the government will be given priority.
The Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, Stefano Clini, said that “This year, we are going the extra mile in meeting the immediate needs of vernacular schools by providing peace of mind to students and teachers via disinfection and preventative tools in light of the health and safety risks posed by the spread of Covid-19.”
Stefano added that, “This effort echoes the Carlsberg Group’s initiatives in response to the global Covid-19 crisis including a RM60 million donation by the Carlsberg Foundation, the New Carlsberg Foundation and the Tuborg Foundation via extraordinary grants in support of scientific, economic and human efforts at a time when society is challenged by the epidemic, with recipients including three internationally-recognised coronavirus research teams.”
Since 1987 when Carlsberg Malaysia's flagship corporate social engagement initiative Top Ten Charity campaign started, it has raised over RM547 million and has benefited more thatn 640 vernacular schools.
