In a shocking incident that unfolded in Mak Mandin, a man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a homemade improvised explosive device (IED) package. The unsettling incident is believed to have been driven by the man's anger towards his neighbor's family.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Asri Shafie, the North Seberang Perai District Police Chief, revealed that preliminary investigations have suggested a possible motive behind the 32-year-old local man's actions. He appeared to have taken this extreme step due to perceived frequent mockery from his elderly neighbor, who resided nearby.
The incident itself involved placing the explosive material in front of the neighbor's house, situated on the fourth floor of Taman Pandan Flat, before detonating it. This explosive act inflicted damage to the iron grille of the house door and the corridor. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the house occupants.
The case has prompted further investigations into the detained man, including the possibility of his involvement in other criminal activities. In addition to the IED, law enforcement authorities also confiscated a homemade pistol and a kerambit from the suspect.
Initial findings indicate that the suspect, who works in a factory, acted independently and acquired the knowledge to create the IED by watching tutorials on YouTube. He sourced the necessary materials through e-commerce platforms, suggesting a lack of ties to criminal syndicates.
Moreover, investigations are extending to the suspect's housemate, a 38-year-old Indonesian woman who was apprehended alongside him.
The arrests unfolded following a report from a concerned woman who reported hearing an explosion in front of a house at 12:57 PM last Sunday. Subsequent examinations led to the discovery not only of the IED but also a second device, along with a homemade pistol, a kerambit, and equipment used in the production of explosive materials.
Would you plant a bomb at someone's house just because they pissed you off?
