A recent social media post has stirred confusion as an individual named Kelvin Liew shared his bewilderment over the varying baggage prices encountered while attempting to purchase a flight ticket from a local airline.
As detailed in the his Facebook post, on January 26, 2024, he made a flight reservation from Johor to Kuching for his mother-in-law. The scheduled flight was set for 5:40 pm, with the ticket costing RM209.
However, the surprise came when attempting to buy baggage for his mother-in-law. Despite all options having the same weight allowance of 20kg, there were three distinct baggage price categories.
The perplexity deepened as it was disclosed that the discrepancy in prices was tied to the types of device used for ticket purchase.
To be specific; for an iPhone, the baggage fee amounted to RM79.86, while an Honor x9b phone incurred a charge of RM55. Additionally, using a computer led to a baggage fee of RM63.25.
The individual expressed their confusion regarding the divergent baggage prices, especially when the weight remained constant at 20kg. The revelation adds an intriguing layer to the intricacies of flight ticket pricing influenced by the device used for purchase.
