Forgetfulness can sometimes bring severe consequences. A father in Kuantan, who forgot his infant in the car, regretted deeply when he found her body in the child seat after leaving her in the car for four hours yesterday, 17 February.

According to New Straits Time, the victim was a nine-month-old girl, named Annur Jannatul Syuhada Mohd Khalil. She was the youngest among three siblings. Based on the initial investigation, it is said that the father was supposed to send the victim to a child care center at Indera Mahkota 15 on his way to work after sending his wife, who was working nearby. Who would have thought that the father would forget and went to work at the Tun Abdul Razak Complex straight? Thus causing this tragedy.

Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali, Kuantan District police chief Assistant Commissioner, mentioned to The Star that the father found the victim lying motionless on the child seat when he was leaving from work to have lunch at about 1 pm. The victim was rushed to Indera Mahkota health clinic but it was too late. She was pronounced dead there.

The deceased was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) for autopsy. It is mentioned that the initial report showed that her death was caused by heatstroke.

He proceeded to explain that this case is being investigated under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. At the same time, the victim’s parents, who both work in Indera Mahkota, refused to be interviewed at the HTAA mortuary as the mother was seen crying as she was speaking to relatives and was hugging the other two children of hers.
