PETALING JAYA: Angry after failing to find a match on a dating website, a policeman beat up a woman in an incident at Jalan 2 Chan Sow Lin, here yesterday
The incident is believed to have occurred when the 35-year-old suspect went to the office of the woman who is also a customer service officer when a misunderstanding occurred.
Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said, the investigation found that there was a misunderstanding between them because the suspect had paid RM2,500 to the woman to find a partner on the website.
However, he said, no match was found for the past six months.
"The suspect blamed the woman and took the victim into the elevator where he attacked her," he said in a statement here today.
According to Muhammad Idzam, the victim who suffered from bleeding in the head then sought treatment at the Tuanku Muhriz Chancellor's Hospital (HCTM).
"Police have identified the man involved in the incident and will call him to testify regarding the incident.
"The case is being investigated according to Section 323 of the Penal Code, which is to injure a person," he said.
