Malaysian's politician and ministers often go viral for saying just the most shallowest, weirdest and more unrealistic statements that sometimes irritate you, sometimes amuse you and sometimes just infuriate you to the point of no return.
Well this time, we have to make way for the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Zuraida Kamaruddin, because she said something that actually qualifies her for the award of the most weirdest and unreal statement of the year.
In her speech defending the palm oil industry in Malaysia, she said that the industry does not threaten the orang utan population in Malaysia. She added that orangutans are more likely to kill humans than humans to kill orang utans.
Huh? You're saying that this gentle little creature is going to hill me?!
She said that during her recent visit to Mecca, she met with the Malaysian Ambassador there. She was informed that the school books there gave a bad description of the palm oil industry as it threatened the lives of orang utans.
"Another thing I found out when I was in Mecca - I had just returned from Umrah. I spoke to our ambassador there, so he told me that in the schools in the Arab countries that his students go to, books tell bad things about our palm oil industry because we kill orang utans. I told him, in Malaysia, if you see an orang utan, the orang utan will kill you first, not you kill the orangutan first. Right?" she said.
Besides her accusing orang utans of being human killers, she also talked about lions in Malaysia which had us thinking...
LIONS IN MALAYSIA? Since when????
It is understood that the speech was made on Jan 5 and started going viral on TikTok recently. It also caught the attention of former politician Rafizi Ramli who uploaded the video on Twitter and jokingly said that he felt cheated by his teacher in school days.
Netizens were disappointed with Zuraidas statement and stated that all this time they had never heard a story about orangutans killing humans.
If you are still worried of being attacked by an orang utan during your jungle trekking trip, a simple Google search will tell you that that won't happen.
So, leave those cute little creatures alone, and go on your jungle trekking adventure!
