Ever since Apple’s Press Conference on the 15th of September 2021, all everyone can talk about is the brand-new iPhone 13. People have been talking about how amazing it is, how expensive it is, how unbelievable the camera is and how it isn’t really that much different from the iPhone 12.
The differences between the two phones aren’t really that obvious, they are subtle but major differences.
While someone who simply uses their phone to make calls and scroll through social media won’t really be that excited about the changes, a person who is as close to their phone as a BFF, a co-worker, a camera for daily OOTD snaps and a space to explore your creativity, then get ready because the differences between the iPhones 12 and 13 will make huge differences in your daily life.
Here’s a comparison between the iPhone 12 and 13:
Category #1: Battery
While the new iPhone normally is bad news for people with the old models because it also comes with a new software update that just drains the battery of the older models, those who will be buying the iPhone 13 (lucky you!) will get to experience the brand new A15 Bionic chip.
According to the keynote speech,
+ iPhone 13's battery life lasts up to 2.5 more hours in a day than the iPhone 12
+ iPhone 13 mini's battery life lasts up to 1.5 more hours in a day than the iPhone 12
+ iPhone 13 Pro's battery life lasts 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro
+ iPhone 13 Pro Max's battery life lasts 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro Max
Category #2: Storage
Apple finally took the hint that we don’t want to delete our photos and apps because there isn’t enough storage and decided that for the new iPhone 13, they will remove storage as low as 64 GB.
So, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13mini now come with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max even comes with a 1T option which is the biggest storage option ever for Apple.
Category #3: Design & Display
Apple certain deserve a little kudos for all the new colours! The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini come in a dusty pink, starlight (white), red, midnight (black), and blue. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have the best colours! They come in graphite, Sierra blue which have a cool steel blue vibe, gold and silver.
I know, some people are reading this thinking, hmm, that’s not really different from the iPhone 12. And yes, it is not that different except for the pink and Sierra blue.
While the size display on both the iPhones 12 & 13 are pretty much the same, the difference is that the front-facing camera notch on the iPhone 13 is 20% smaller, giving it a larger display area. Besides that, it also has a 28% brighter, more vivid screen compared to the iPhone 12.
Category #4: Camera
One of the most obvious difference between the iPhone 13 and 12’s cameras are the way the 13’s one is arranged diagonally. Besides that, the iPhone 13 also introduced Cinematic mode which is like portrait mode but for video.
To experience the cinematic mode, here’s a short film Apple made using the feature:
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max also has macrophotography capabilities by providing you with three times the zoom power compared to previous models.
Category #5: Experience
With the new A15 processing chip which faster than any competitor processor by 50%, the iPhone 13 series will certainly provide you with a smoother, more efficient experience when using it. It allows you to run various apps at the same time without any lagging or loading and play video games with a more sensitive touch (get chicken dinner on your PUBG every time!).
The graphics also look cleaner, brighter, and more brilliant due to the changes made to the resolution, camera lens, and processor.
