Later, his entire face swelled significantly, causing him pain and prompting him to visit a hospital. Medical professionals diagnosed him with erysipelas, attributing it to repeated nose-picking, chronic constipation, and stress preventing toxin expulsion. He is currently undergoing a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatments and is on the path to recovery after seven days, with some residual red marks on his face treated using light therapy.

Erysipelas is a skin infection primarily caused by Group A beta-hemolytic streptococci, involving the superficial lymphatic vessels of the dermis. Predisposing factors include skin inflammation, fissures, or ulcers that serve as entry points for the pathogen. Typical symptoms include high fever, chills, fatigue, headache, vomiting, and skin lesions with distinct raised edges. In severe cases, vesicles, blisters, ecchymosis, skin necrosis, and lymphedema may occur.
