A Twitter user has shared his surprising experience of ordering nasi campur at a local restaurant in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur. The unexpected twist came when he was charged a whopping RM30 for a single shrimp, leaving him baffled.
According to the user, his nasi campur, consisting of rice, splashes of gravy, and one additional side dish, amounted to a total of RM37, inclusive of his drink. The initial shock came from the unanticipated cost of the shrimp, as he had presumed it would be around RM20 at most, considering its size.
Adding to the surprise, the user highlighted that the price tag was displayed, but he was only informed about the total payment at the counter, where the cashier manually calculated his dish.
Netizens in the comments echoed the user's shock, advising him to file a complaint on the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs' website.
However, some netizens argued that the shrimp in question might be a type of giant freshwater prawn, which can command prices of up to RM120 per kilogram. They explained that such prawns often shrink in size when cooked, potentially justifying the seemingly exorbitant charge for a single piece.
