KLANG – A Rohingya garbage collector tried to escape to Thailand after brutally killing his friend. Thankfully, he was arrested by the police at Pengkalan Kubor Jetty, Kelantan near here, recently.
The arrest of the 30-year-old suspect was made at about 2.50pm last Friday as a result of the efficiency of a team of members and officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the North Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD).
North Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said, they first received a report from a medical officer at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) here regarding a foreign male patient in his 30s who was brought to him by his friend, unconscious.
He said, based on the report received at 10.11 am on October 10, they were both from Rantau Panjang, Sungai Kapar here.
“The medical officer's examination at HTAR found that there were nine stab wounds to the head, body and legs with the patient later confirmed dead at the hospital.
"The autopsy results found that the cause of death was due to heavy bleeding from stab wounds from the back of the body," he said in a statement today.
According to him, the investigation also found that the murder was believed to have been committed by two of the victim's friends who also worked as garbage collectors.
Vijaya Rao added that a special team was later set up from the North Klang IPD Criminal Investigation Division which later managed to arrest a suspect in Jalan Pengkalan Kubor, Kelantan last Friday.
“The suspect was said to be trying to escape to Thailand through the Golok border. He was taken to the North Klang IPD and is now remanded for six days until this Thursday.
"The cause of the incident is due to an old grudge between the victim and the two suspects who are also garbage collectors. The case being investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code," he explained.
In this regard, Vijaya Rao stressed that his party is currently looking for another suspect known as Mohammad Hashim Dilbasahar, 30, who is a Rohingya ethnic with his last address at Jalan Budaya, Kampung Rantau Panjang here.
