If you haven't had plums before, they taste a little sour, a little sweet, feels a little crunchy and can be dried into prunes. A little larger than grapes but smaller than oranges, once you've had one, you won't be able to stop yourself to a second one. It can be made into ice cream, jam, or juice. But, why should you have plums?


Vitamin C

Plums are among the fruits that are rich in Vitamin C. It helps strengthen our immune system (definitely something we need these days), prevent exhaustion and has antioxidant properties.

Pectin

Plums are also rich in dietary fibre, which makes it perfect for those who are on a weight loss diet or program. The pectin in plums can prevent constipation and increase the overall energy levels of our body. This will all even result in better skin!

Anthocyanins

Never heard of anthocyanins? They are responsible for fruits and vegetables being red-orange and blue-violet. As a polyphenol pigment, it helps with fixing tiredness of the eyes and improving eyesight. Eating plums could effectively help with night blindness and dried eyes.

Organic Acids

Organic acids help restore tiredness and improve kidney activities, including regulating diuretic and edema effects. Just like vinegar, the organic acids in plums reduce the risks of a number of diseases and is crucial for a health-focused diet.

Minerals

Aside from all the aforementioned nutrients, you'll also find a range of minerals in plums, including potassium, copper, manganese, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus, just to name a few. Although they don't come in high enough amounts to make up for the daily recommendations, it's still a welcomed benefit.
