Malaysians young and old rode the train in style today, dressed in their best ethnic-themed outfit, all in the name of unity. The Keretapi Sarong 2023, held in conjunction with Malaysia Day, was said to have attracted more than 10,000 people.
On various social media platforms, social media users shared videos of the event, which saw the unique celebration, comprising traditional dance, music and multi-ethnic storytelling held in several LRT and MRT stations, as well as at several tourist spots.
It commenced simultaneously at seven stations, namely KL Sentral, Gombak, Ampang and Subang Jaya LRT stations; Kajang and Bandar Utama MRT stations, as well as KLIA transit, before converging on Dataran Merdeka.
Among them was Kota Damansara assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim, who took part in the event together with his wife and two daughters. In a post on X, Izuan shared that he and his family also went to Dataran Merdeka to celebrate Hari Malaysia.
