The Health Director-General, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah mentioned yesterday (May 13) that the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) needs to wait till May 18 to review its effectiveness. However, if Malaysians refused to follow the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) set by the government, the infectious rate might increase in the mid of June, as reported in Sin Chew Daily.
He added that Malaysia has successfully brought down the COVID-19 infectious rate of 3.55 people to 0.3 people, as a result of the four phases of MCO. The Ministry of Health (MoH) will monitor the infectious rate for the next few weeks.

He disclosed on his daily updates of COVID-19 live conference yesterday that although the government has loosened the MCO, MoH is still monitoring the COVID-19 cases daily. If the infectious rate increased to 1 people, this indicates that the government will have to employ stricter measures in tackling the virus.
He pointed out the based on observation, if Malaysians obeyed the SOP strictly, the daily increment of COVID-19 cases is expected to drop to a single-digit within a week.
"It is up to Malaysians to decide whether or not Malaysia will return to the MCO phase. It is also Malaysians' decision on whether the epidemic will return," he said. This means that it is up to Malaysians' cooperation on battling this war against COVID-19.
"If Malaysians were to disobey the SOP during this CMCO, the infectious rate increased to 1.6 people, this means that we have reached a dangerous level and that the COVID-19 cases will increase tremendously in the mid of June," he warned.
