Yesterday (Nov 16), a 4 year old girl, who was left home alone, was found dead at a high-end apartment on Ipoh Road, Kuala Lumpur.
Based on reports, her father went out around 1pm to buy some things, and left his daughter aged 4, alone at home for about an hour or so. He also made sure to lock the doors.
However, when he returned at 2pm, his daughter was nowhere to be found, so he quickly urgent to management.
After some searching, she was located breathless on the corridor of the 8th floor. Management hurriedly contacted an ambulance from the Selayang Hospital, and the victim was then pronounced dead after being inspected by the medical staff.
"On-site investigations found that the window of the deceased's room was open, no grills were installed, and there was a chair next to the window. Assumption is, she stumbled from the window of the house on the 29th floor and fell to the 8th floor, after climbing on the chair", said Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner.
Her body has since been sent in for an autopsy.
The inspector in-charged of the case reminded parents to not be careless, should they ever choose to leave their children at home. He also mentioned the importance of protective measures such as iron grills/bars, just incase.
