Turns out there‘s a lot of things out there you don’t actually need in your skincare routine. In fact, they‘re quite literally pointless.
Scroll down to find out what I’m talking about.
#1 Facial Cleansing Devices

You might think you're doing your skin a favor by investing in a facial cleansing device but this is what you could be signing up for instead:
• Redness and inflammation
• Bacteria built up
• Increased skin sensitivity
• Breakouts
Truth is, your hand is the only tool you need when it comes to cleansing your face. Facial Cleansing brushes are often too aggresive to be used every day unless you don't mind scraping layers off your face on the daily.
#2 Face Primers

If you haven't realized it yet, a face primer is nothing but a glorified moisturizer. There's no harm in buying it of course, we've all bought an expensive product just for the thrills of user experience at some point in our lives but just putting it out there— you absolutely don't need it.
A well-moisturized face is a good enough canvas for makeup application, and nothing much else.
#3 Waterproof Mascaras

Unless you spend 90% of your time crying your eyes out for some reason, waterproof mascara is quite utterly a pointless addition to your makeup routine.
It can actually dry out your lashes and potentially damage them in the long run and you can't even wash it off with regular makeup remover. Absolute daylight robbery, if you ask me.
#4 Brow Gels

Listen, if you're willing to pay hundreds on a brow gel when there is an abundance of cheap hacks and alternatives out there... girl, have mercy on your wallet.
In reality, if you already have a hair spray or a vaseline and a spoolie, you're more than good enough to go. Spend smart, not hard.
#5 Separate Creams For AM and PM

C'mon, this whole thing reeks of a quick cash grab. Nobody needs two separate creams for day and night. Remember, a basic skincare routine only requires a few things:
AM:
• Cleanser
• Moisturizer
• SPF
PM:
• Cleanser
• Chemical Exfoliator (weekly)
• Serums (if you have specific concerns)
• Retinols
• Moisturiser
Anything more than that is considered nothing but a nice addition to your regime, I wouldn't go so far as to classify it as a need.

But of course, at the end of the day self-care comes first. If these things bring you joy then, by all means, go ahead. But for those who are tired of spending unnecessary bucks on things that turn out to be useless, then I hope this helps.
