Since the lockdown ended, every weekend there’s someone getting married. All our travel plans are scheduled around going to a friend’s or family member’s wedding.
It can get a little frustrating if you’re about the same age of the bride or groom because literally everyone you speak to will be asking you when you will be getting married.
Some of us may even start feeling a little envious of the friend or family member that’s getting married but before you go home and cry while eating a tub of ice cream, just think about how much money the happily married couple had to spend on their lavish wedding.
If you aren’t really sure, a local wedding planning website called Bridalgram shared the average cost of a wedding ceremony for Malaysian Chinese weddings and here’s the rundown of all the costs:
Ring – RM 5000
Hotel reception dinner with 50 tables – RM 60 000
Live band and host – RM 3000
Wedding venue décor - RM 5000
Wedding Dress + Tux + Shoes + Accessories – RM 5000
Photographer (Pre-wedding & Actual Day) – RM 7000

Still jealous of your friend or family member that’s getting married? I’m not! At least I am not spending this much money on a party that only happening for one day.
But for those who already spent that much on their wedding or more, Congratulations, we hope it was worth it.
