A distressing situation has unfolded at Pasar Wakaf Che Yeh in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, where an elderly man in his 60s has been left abandoned and neglected for over two weeks. The heart-wrenching scene reveals the elderly man lying on a mattress that has become a deplorable sight due to filth.
Hasawadi Ramli, a 45-year-old trader at Pasar Wakaf Che Yeh, disclosed that this elderly individual is believed to have been left behind by someone unidentified more than two weeks ago. Alongside the elderly man, a meager mattress, which serves as his bed, was also abandoned, leaving the man in a helpless state.
The prolonged abandonment has led to the mattress becoming soiled, rendering it unfit for use as the elderly man is unable to move. Sympathetic traders, including Hasawadi, and others, have been offering the elderly man food to alleviate his immediate needs. However, their assistance is limited by their lack of knowledge about the man's identity or situation.
The distressing circumstances have not only taken a toll on the elderly man but have also affected the shoppers at Pasar Wakaf Che Yeh. The pervasive unpleasant odor emanating from the site has left many visitors uncomfortable.
Hasawadi has taken the initiative to raise awareness about the elderly man's plight by lodging complaints with various authorities. Regrettably, despite these efforts, no tangible action has been taken thus far.
