In recent legal proceedings, a man in Tawau, was sentenced to six months in prison after admitting to stealing 10 boxes of eggs valued at RM147. The accused, Rakib Hassan, aged 39, pleaded guilty to the theft charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
The incident occurred on October 13th at around 9:30 in the morning at the 100-Year Site Car Park on Dunlop Road. The eggs, which belonged to another man, were taken from behind a parked vehicle. The penalty for this offense, according to Section 379 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum punishment of up to seven years of imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Notably, the accused did not have legal representation during the proceedings.
