A dramatic shootout unfolded last night, resulting in the deaths of three male suspects believed to be connected to multiple criminal activities, including a murder case in Sarawak.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:13 PM during a police raid on an apartment on the first floor of a building in the Beverly Hill area.
According to NST, Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim, said the operation was led by the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK). Acting on intelligence, officers moved in to apprehend the suspects but were met with gunfire.
"As the raid unfolded, a shootout occurred between the suspects and the police. However, our officers managed to fatally shoot all three criminals," Azmi stated during a press conference at the scene.
Azmi said that investigations were still ongoing. "These suspects are believed to have been involved in several criminal cases, including a murder in Sarawak," he added.
A forensic team from the Sabah IPK was also deployed to the scene to collect evidence and carry out further investigations.
The swift police action underscores ongoing efforts to curb criminal activity and bring those responsible to justice. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
