It has been confirmed by the researchers in China that the COVID-19 could still survive in the lungs of the deceased, hence, it is important to handle the corpse of COVID-19 patients with extra care.

According to Sinar Harian, a group of researchers in China had conducted an autopsy on 29 patients who died due to the COVID-19 and found out that the virus remains in the lungs of these victims.

The autopsy too showed that the virus has caused terrible damage to patients' immune systems, which was the prime reason that caused their deaths.

One of the researchers added that the infection not only causes severe pathological changes in the patient's lungs but also damages the bronchioles, which makes it more difficult to breathe.

Thus this is why the family members of the deceased are not allowed to bring back the corpse or have a proper funeral.

Meanwhile, in a separate report by China Press, a family in Kolaka Regency, Indonesia had brought back the body of their family member who was suspected to be a COVID-19 patient. Not only they bathed the body, they even kissed the body before burying it.

This incident was recorded down and posted on Facebook, which then became viral. Although the result of the 34-year-old deceased has yet to be out, the possibility of her having the COVID-19 still exists. Hence, her family members may be at risk of getting the COVID-19.
