A lot of us are missing Siu Mai because we can't really enjoy one during this MCO, right? No worries! Here's a recipe on how to make Siu Mai that is just like what you'd get in a Dimsum restaurant!
What you need (for 20 Siu Mais):
Minced pork - 240g
Shrimps (medium-sized) - 240g
Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
Carrot - 1cm
Seasonings:
Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoons
Pepper powder - 1/3 teaspoon
Sugar - 1 large tablespoon
Sesame oil - 1 large tablespoon
Corn starch - 1 large tablespoon
Directions:
1️⃣Peel, clean and chop shrimps
2️⃣Mix minced pork with all seasonings and chop it
3️⃣Combine the minced pork with chopped shrimps and stir until sticky
4️⃣Chop the carrot
5️⃣Cut away each corner of the wonton wrappers (1cm x 1cm), place the fillings in the middle, wrap it by pressing the edges of the wrapper with your thumb and index finger
6️⃣Squeeze the Siu Mai at the waist. Press down the meat with a spoon to level it
7️⃣Place the Siu Mai in a plate, garnish each with the chopped carrots
8️⃣Steam for 10 minutes
*For a more refreshing texture, add chopped turnip to the fillings
Your Siu Mai is ready to serve now. Enjoy!
