The King: The Eternal Monarch is one of the year’s most anticipated dramas because of its Lee’s first role since completing his mandatory military duty in 2019. However, this drama has scored a new low rating based on its previous episodes.

Netizens have previously shared their comment to the drama, some calling it 'boring', 'meaningless storyline', 'slow-paced'. There was worry among fans due to negative reviews and low ratings over the series.

In episode 12 being aired recently, a 'neck kiss' between two actors has caused positive reaction to arise among viewers, thus silenced some of criticism.

According to Koreaboo in the latest episode of the drama, Kim Go-eun playfully stretches her neck out, saying "Go ahead and try me" in response to  Lee Min-ho explains that “making fun of the emperor would usually result in a beheading”.

But instead of beheading her, he approaches her closer and kisses her on the neck. She stared at him with a little shock. He moves in to kiss her on the lips.

Koreaboo reported that this romantic moment, now endearingly been nicknamed the ‘Neck Kiss’ by Korean drama viewers, has successfully grabbed positive attention and hushed some of the show’s most negative reviews.

Lots of comments arose up from social media, calling the couples "lovebirds!" ; "y'all are gonna die when you watch this scene!" ; "Give her some air, please" and other funny comments. 

As viewers get excited to see the chemistry between the couples, they can’t wait to see how their relationship will evolve — despite the fact that they are from parallel universes.
