A recent incident involving a popular Malaysian breakfast item, nasi lemak, has sparked shock and concern among netizens after a TikTok video went viral, showcasing live maggots infesting the egg yolk of a packet of nasi lemak.
In the 14-second clip shared by user @faezzin994, a man is seen expressing his horror upon discovering the maggots crawling out from the egg yolk. The video captured the man's disbelief and disgust at the sight, warning street vendors, particularly those selling nasi lemak, against reusing unsold eggs from the previous day.
The incident occurred after the man, identified as Faez, had already consumed half of the yolk before making the unsettling discovery. The RM5 nasi lemak was purchased from a vendor near Section 20 in Shah Alam, leaving Faez with a thoroughly ruined appetite and a call for greater hygiene standards among street vendors.
