A man in his 40's appeared before the Sessions Court today, where he faced charges relating to three counts of rape, sexual assault, and the production of pornographic videos involving an 8 year old victim, which occurred five years ago.
The accused, a 41-year-old ship mechanic in Singapore, also faced an additional charge of possessing pornographic images of the victim in May. Despite the weight of the charges against him, the accused maintained his plea of not guilty when the charges were read before Judge V.M. Mabel Sheela.
As stated in the charge sheet, the accused, who is a father of three, stands accused of committing the heinous acts of rape, sexual assault, and recording pornographic videos involving the victim, who is his niece. These abhorrent incidents are said to have taken place inside a residential property at 1:30AM on August 1st, 2018.

Furthermore, the accused is also charged with possession of various videos and images of child pornography that were discovered in a residential area in Iskandar Puteri at 9PM on May 24th.
The accused faces multiple charges under the provisions of Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 5, Section 10, and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
If found guilty, the accused could be handed severe punishments, including a maximum prison sentence of 30 years or caning. Additionally, he may face a substantial fine of up to RM10,000.
During the court proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Fadilah Johanuddin appealed to the court for bail to be set at RM20,000 for each charge, provided that bail is granted. Showing consideration, Judge Mabel Sheela granted bail for all charges, setting the amount at RM8,000. The accused was represented by lawyer Baharudin Baharim. The next mention date for the case has been scheduled for July 24th.
Disturbingly, it has come to light that the accused may face prosecution for similar offenses in other states, including Kedah, Pahang, and Kuala Lumpur, involving the same victim.
These incidents are believed to have occurred during school holiday periods while the victim was under the accused's care, underscoring the pressing need to safeguard the well-being and protection of children in vulnerable situations.
