TW: Child abuse

In a shocking revelation that has sent shockwaves through the community, a distressing case of child abuse has been uncovered at a Child Care Center  in Jalan Kampung Seronok Nosoob, Penampang, Sabah. The victim's parents expressed their anguish and horror at witnessing the abuse captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.

The heart-wrenching incident came to light when the parent shared their heartbreak over the appalling treatment their 4-year-old child endured at the hands of a caregiver within the child care facility.

The emotional parent disclosed, "I myself cannot bear to watch the video footage from the CCTV camera of my child being kicked and slapped in the face and head. What parent wouldn't be saddened by such treatment of their child?"

Adding further to the distressing narrative, the parent recounted a particularly harrowing aspect of the abuse. "What's even more distressing for me is that, when my child was about to eat, he was slapped and hit repeatedly with a ruler," the parent stated, highlighting the extent of the cruel treatment inflicted upon the innocent child.

The father of the young victim revealed that this wasn't the first instance of abuse. This heart-wrenching ordeal marks the second time their child had fallen victim to such cruelty since their enrollment at the Taska back in March.

The initial incident came to light when the victim's mother noticed bruises on her child's hand, prompting her to inquire about the cause. Initially, the child claimed he was hit by a teacher (caregiver), but later changed his story and implied that it was his friends' doing. Disturbingly, the Taska dismissed the incident, labeling it as a normal occurrence arising from alleged altercations between the child and other students.

"The taska only gave an answer that it was a normal thing because our child was allegedly fighting with other kids at the Taska," elaborated the parents.

The parent, who is also a government employee, disclosed that despite their acceptance of the Taska's initial explanation, their child's well-being remained paramount. When the child complained of headaches after being picked up from the facility, the parent's concerns escalated. Shockingly, upon inspection, marks were found on the child's head, adding an even darker layer to the child's ordeal.

Seeking answers, the parent's patience reached its limits, prompting them to request access to the Taska's CCTV footage. The disturbing footage revealed a caregiver repeatedly hitting the child on the head and face with a ruler, contrasting sharply with claims that the caregiver was gentle.

The parent's determination for justice led them to file a police report at the Tanjung Aru Police Station.

Currently, the abused child is undergoing further medical evaluation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) to assess the extent of injuries inflicted by the caregiver's cruel actions.
