IPOH: A man is suspected to have been strangled to death in a fight in front of a morning market stall at Flat Ashby Road here, this morning.
In the incident at about 9 am, the victim, Muhammad Noor Faqih Mohamed Ariffin, 29, died at the scene after his neck was strangled.
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said following the incident, police detained men aged 34, 47 and 60 at the scene to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"Preliminary investigation found that the suspect was said to be unhappy because the victim stole the loudspeaker belonging to one of them.
"During the incident, the suspect found the victim with the loudspeaker, before an argument broke out between them and resulted in the victim being killed in the incident," he told reporters here today.
Mior Faridalathrash said one of the three suspects who is also the owner of a stall in the area came later in the fight.
"The suspect came to help his friend in the fight, before the victim's neck was strangled and then he died," he said.
He said the police also believed the victim had mental problems.
"Police also confiscated a folding knife belonging to the victim at the scene. The three suspects detained were remanded for a week to assist in the investigation," he said.
