Allegations that Umno will launch a 'Love DAP Campaign' as it went viral on social media is slander, said Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He described the allegations that were spread through the WhatsApp application over the past few days as a dirty tactic by the opposition.
"Whoever is spreading false accusations and doing such pointless work should stop. In this day and age, people can differentiate between the truth and falsehood. Therefore, I urge those who are spreading such rumours to repent," he said to reporters at the UMNO Perak Open House in Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Mara Lenggong in Lenggong.
A digital poster previously went viral, stating that Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, would be launching the UMNO "Love DAP Campaign." The poster also listed five objectives of the campaign, including convincing the UMNO grassroots that DAP is not as bad as it is portrayed.
Zahid Hamidi reiterated that the allegations are baseless and aimed at tarnishing UMNO's reputation. He urged the public to ignore such claims and not be swayed by political propaganda.
