In a recent incident in Ayer Keroh, a 37-year-old woman has been charged with a disturbing act of alleged child abuse. The accused appeared in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court and pleaded not guilty when the charges were read before the judge.
The charges stem from allegations that the woman intentionally inflicted severe injuries on her own 13-year-old son by scalding him with hot water. This distressing incident reportedly occurred in a residence in Sungai Udang at around 2:56 AM on June 27th the previous year.
The accused now faces charges under Section 326 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 326 A of the same code. These charges carry serious penalties, including a maximum of 20 years' imprisonment, fines, or caning.
The motive behind this disturbing act appears to be linked to the child's use of internet data on the accused's mobile phone, which allegedly led to her anger. Additionally, there are allegations of ongoing physical abuse within the household. This deeply troubling situation came to light when a friend of the victim noticed what appeared to be injury marks on the child's school uniform. The concerned friend promptly informed their mother, resulting in the filing of a police report.
The quick action of the victim's friend eventually ensured his safety and brought his mother to justice.
