In mid-February, AirAsia signed a memorandum of understanding without an agreement to lease at least 100 VX4 eVTOL aircraft to develop Southeast Asia's leading urban air mobility platform (UAM).
Recently Capital A Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes shared some photos where he and his team have gone to visit Vertical Aerospace headquarters.
Tony is seen posing with UK-based electric airline founder Stephen Fitzpatrick in front of one of Vertical Aerospace's VX4 eVTOL aircraft.
Tony added that the Electric Air Taxi will be AirAsia's latest product that can be booked through the AirAsia SuperApp and AirAsia Ride applications when the service is ready to operate later.
The VX4 eVTOL aircraft is capable of carrying four passengers and one pilot, speeds up to 230km/h and is capable of travelling over 160 kilometres.
With the use of electric air taxis, Tony stated that the price of the service offered is very cheap compared to commercial aircraft and saves more time for users to go to a location.
"Klia 2 to Sentral 17mins, Bangkok airport to downtown 11 mins," said Tony in his personal Instagram post.
What do you think of the new electric air taxi? I think it looks like something out of a James Bond movie! Share your thoughts in the comments section.
