Here's some GOOD NEWS for Studio Ghibli fans! (and, of course, for those who are interested as well)
The famous Japanese animation studio's films will be available on the also-much-famous streaming platform - Netflix!
Before Netflix announces that Studio Ghibli's high rating collection of films will be streamed on Netflix soon, fans were only able to reminisce touching moments of their favorite Ghibli animation films, if they purchased the physical or digital copy of the Studio Ghibli Collection, and to be honest, not ALL fans can afford to buy their collection (I know cause I am one of them).
But the day has finally come -- where fans can pay an affordable subscription fee to watch not just one; but a whole collection of films from the renowned Japanese animation studio that had won numerous awards and nominations throughout the years.
Here's What You Need To Know :
1. The initial launch will be on February 1st, 2020
Netflix had acquired streaming rights to a total of 21 Ghibli films (details are below) -- which will be made available on Netflix for mostly all of the countries; EXCEPT North America and Japan. So, no worries, Malaysia is on the green-tick list.
2. Subtitles are available in 28 languages and dubbed in up to 20 languages
If you're worried that you can't understand Japanese, there are many options for you to choose; and if you do not prefer subtitles bothering your full-screen mode, you can go for the dubbed version of the films.
3. The release schedule is divided into 3 sections
Basically, Netflix will not release all 21 films at one time, instead, they will release 7 films each month for 3 months straight, starting on Feb 1st. (More details below)
The release of the 21 films are scheduled as below:
With these 21 films released on Netflix, fans can finally re-watch those heartwarming moments and meaningful storyline anytime; just don't forget to prepare a lot of tissue papers as their films are well known for their ability to make you sob.
