TW: Mentions of sexual harassment
A tour guide in Semporna, Sabah was arrested on suspicion of sexually harassing two foreign female tourists.
The suspect, a 27-year-old male believed to be an illegal immigrant, was arrested at 7:30 PM, shortly after the victims reported the incidents at 4:30 PM. The victims, aged 18 and 22, described distressing encounters during a fishing and snorkeling trip.
The first incident occurred at 10:12 AM while fishing, and the second at 3:30 PM during snorkeling. The victims claimed the suspect touched them inappropriately and engaged in troubling acts, including rubbing his private parts against one victim's thigh.

Semporna District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah responded to the allegations promptly. He emphasized that the police acted based on the victims' statements and revealed that the suspect lacked proper identification documents and valid work permits.
In response to these events, not only was the tour guide arrested but also the manager of the tourism company that employed him. The manager is under suspicion for hiring foreign workers without proper documentation.
Both the tour guide and the manager have been detained for four days until October 27th. The tour guide faces charges of alleged sexual harassment and immigration violations, while the manager is investigated for hiring undocumented workers.
